Changing attitudes of middle aged women towards menopause

Abstract
Ageing is a series of transition from one set of social roles to another, which is structured by social system rather than biological one; Attitudes toward aging are influenced by expected life span, economic conditions, social expectations, media, arts, and literature of the time. Ageist attitudes may be excessively positive or negative, depending on one's tendency to stereotype individuals based on their age. Although it seems reasonable to suggest that most women experience significant changes during their middle age having impact on their health, family and household. The purpose of the study is to understand the changing attitudes of middle aged women towards their health (i.e. menopausal stage). Menopause is one of the stages which occur in woman’s life leading her to face various health, social, economic and family issues. Since this paper is based on secondary data. The paper tries to explore how women take menopause as one of their physiological as well as psychological change occurring among them with respective to their age and at the same time to understand attitude of middle aged women towards menopause.
