Abstract
We have completed 73 years of India's Independence. It has become necessary to think over the social policy guidelines for the Scheduled Trines and denitrified tribes, which constitute the weakest section of India's population from the ecological, economic and educational angles. Poverty and exploitation, economic and technological backwardness, socio cultural handicaps – some problems which arise with the question of assimilation of these tribes with the mainstream/plains’ population, the research objective is to understand the problems and prospect of Scheduled tribes in India and to know the demographic features of scheduled tribes in India.
