South Asia policies of the USA and China
Authors
Dr. Prasanta Sahoo
Abstract
This paper examines the increasing strategic competition between the
United States and China in South Asia. It explores historical developments,
geopolitical factors, economic engagements, regional responses, and future
trends. The paper argues that South Asia has become a political battleground
where both nations aim to secure maritime routes, forge strategic partnerships,
and extend their influence. This competition significantly affects regional
alignment, development, and global order. The U.S.-China rivalry in South Asia
reflects a larger global power struggle between the two countries, striving to
enhance their influence in this geopolitically critical region. This rivalry
affects regional stability, economic development, and foreign policy
independence in South Asian nations. Additionally, the paper explores how these
regional states navigate the power competition and the resulting implications
for security, development, and diplomacy.
