Abstract
In this paper we discussed the foundation of
the city of Hissar Firuza. The word ‘Hissar’ meaning is siege warfare [1]. The district’s name is
derived from its headquarters town, Hissar, founded by Firuz Shah Tughlaq in
about 1354 A.D. [2]
According to V.S. Agarwala, aisukari or Isukara, a beautiful and prosperous
city of Kuru Janapada referred to by Panini, was the ancient name of Hissar [3]. However, the antiquity of
the area can be established based on the discovery of pre-historic and
historical sites at a number of places in the district [4]. Some of the most prominent
sites are Banawali, Rakhigarhi, Seswal, Agroha, and Hansi.
