Abstract
Tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir face numerous socio-economic
challenges that impede their development and well-being. This research paper
examines the socio-economic issues confronting tribal populations in the region
and proposes policy recommendations to address these challenges
comprehensively. The paper identifies key areas of concern such as poverty,
inadequate access to basic amenities, limited educational and employment
opportunities, healthcare disparities, land tenure issues, and cultural marginalization.
Drawing on empirical data and existing literature, the paper discusses the
significance of targeted economic development strategies, infrastructure
improvement, education and skill development initiatives, land rights advocacy,
healthcare access, cultural preservation efforts, and women's empowerment
programs in promoting tribal development. Furthermore, it emphasizes the
importance of stakeholder engagement, participatory governance, and monitoring
and evaluation mechanisms in ensuring the effective implementation and impact
of tribal development policies. This research paper aims to provide a
comprehensive analysis of the socio-economic issues confronting tribal
communities in Jammu and Kashmir and proposes policy recommendations to alleviate
their plight. By examining the root causes of these challenges and identifying
potential solutions, the paper seeks to contribute to the formulation of
evidence-based policies that promote inclusive growth and enhance the
well-being of tribal populations.
