The objective of this study
is to investigate the political relationships maintained between the Pandya
State and Sri Lanka during the thirteenth century. For the first time,
information about the connections between the Pandya State and Sri Lanka after
the downfall of the Polonnaruwa kingdom was revealed during the rule of King
Parakramabahu II of the Dambadeniya kingdom. It is an important fact that there
were inscriptions found from South India to explore the connections between the
Pandya State and Sri Lanka during the Dambadeniya Kingdom. Therefore, it is not
incorrect to introduce this as a comparative study between Lankan chronicles
and South Indian inscriptions.
