Role of public policy in rural development of Telangana state

Abstract
Since the state's formation in 2014, Telangana's state rural development
has been significantly influenced by public policy. To enhance agriculture,
infrastructure, social welfare, and sustainable development in rural areas, the
government has launched a number of creative initiatives. One of the most
important programs is Rythu Bandhu, which gives farmers direct financial
support for agricultural investments, lowering reliance on private lenders and
increasing output. In a same vein, Rythu Bima provides farmers with life
insurance, giving their families financial stability. These programs have
helped to lower economic vulnerability and increase farmers' income. Through
initiatives like Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha, the government has
also concentrated on bolstering rural infrastructure. In order to improve
groundwater levels and increase the amount of water available for agriculture,
Mission Kakatiya seeks to renovate and revitalize irrigation tanks. By
providing rural homes with clean drinking water, Mission Bhagiratha raises
living conditions and public health. Additionally, the Mahatma Gandhi National
Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and state development initiatives
have combined to create productive rural assets and job possibilities.
Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have promoted financial inclusion, entrepreneurship,
and community involvement in development initiatives, especially among women.
Higher agricultural productivity, easier access to basic services, better rural
livelihoods, and increased social welfare are all results of these programs.
However, issues including youth migration to cities, rural unemployment,
climate change, and regional differences in policy implementation continue to
impede balanced development.
